The Halloween Special 

Honestly, I wasn't really sure if I was going to produce any more content for this game or move on. 

Room Girl's Halloween costume was released last friday, and I decided to give it a go. No one knew I was doing the update, so, besides the pressure from lack of time, I was quite calm in knowing that if I failed there just would be no update and no one would know anything.

Alas, I managed to finish and publish Julie's Room Halloween Special . It's quite rough around the edges due to the time constraints, but it's a bit longer than the original release and I think it's better too.

If you're like me and usually play VNs without sound, you might want to reconsider. I've added some moaning to the last scene, it's integrated with the videos, so make sure the "Music" volume is turned up!

Speaking of changes, I took out the meaningless choice at the beginning of the novel, so less people would be frustrated this time, I'm hoping.

The visual look of the videos changed because I started using reshade  and because I've also changed the way I deal with recording. I've been using OBS to capture my screen, but that leaves a part of the UI visible, like so:

The way I dealt with this on the first release was to upscale the videos in Blender after the capture. That allowed some flexibility with the "camera"'s position and animation, but made the result a bit too blurry. That coupled with a scaling Nvidia option contributed to the blurry renders of v1.0. 

For the Halloween update I went with a letterbox filter from reshade, it hides the UI and doesn't need scaling. But limits the camera movement to whatever I can do in Room Girl. It looks like this:

What I couldn't improve was the framerate. My puny 1050 struggles to chug along with the animations. There's a scene with a bunch of characters where the low framerate is most noticeable in the new content. I guess I should start a "Let's buy dummy a new GPU" fund or something.

What's next?

I wasn't sure about this update, but I've been quite convinced of doing one for christmass, since I should have enough time to build something longer and more polished. 

Now that I got this behind, I'm looking forward to work on it.
